We had our work Christmas lunch today, before people start going on holidays for the rest of the year. Half their luck, if most of my team weren't already going on holidays then I think that I'd definitely being taking holidays myself as I'm over it.
After lunch, instead of going back to work I just went home, I needed this weekend to start ASAP. It's meant to be quite warm this weekend before some rain maybe on Monday. My wife and I are hoping to brave the shops tomorrow afternoon to get all our Christmas shopping done whilst the kids are at my Dad's. We know what we're getting the kids and my wife and I don't usually get each other anything as we spoil ourselves at other times throughout the year.
I also have to think of a gift for our Kris Kringle that we do with the rest of my family. We all spend $30 on something and then throw it on the pile of gifts. The first person opens their present so we can all see it. The second person can choose to open a present of their own or take the present off the first person. If they take the present then the first person has to open another present before the 3rd person can choose to either steal from the first or the second person or open a present of their own. This continues until all the presents are gone. It can be quite a bit of fun and usually people put a bit of thought into the gift.
Sunday, I think the plan is to do as little as possible if we can. My son loves playing Fortnite on the computer and a new season has just begun. I promised him a few weeks ago that I'd buy him a season pass so he could get a new outfit in the game and some other things that he can win by completing missions. It's kind of odd, the outfits that you can buy don't give you any advantage in the game at all and they cost real money. You can't sell or trade your outfits, it's certainly a different time that we're living in but I don't have a problem in paying for something like that. Once upon a time it would have been trading cards or something like that and the odds are that he would have lost them, ruined them somehow or just thrown them out when he was older so I don't see it any different than that.
