Yesterday's post looked much longer on my phone, I was short of time and had to get back to work but I usually try and write a little more than that, so I apologise.
When I got home from work last night I found that my bench had arrived so today I put it together and did my new weights routine. I did manage to get in some chest presses which felt a
little awkward to start with but now my chest feels like it has got a
little bit of a work out which is what I was wanting. I didn't do any
squats or sit ups as I was still in my motorcycle jeans which make those things a little difficult and I didn't want
to dirty some different long pants as it's a little cold and I usually
wear shorts.
The bench seems pretty strong and well made, it did have a warning saying max user weight 100kg, but I figure that someone who is fit and healthy will probably be lifting more weight than me so the combined weight would possibly be the same if not more.
It has been raining on and off all day and quite cold and windy so I wouldn't have gone for a walk if I was meant to have. This is the perfect weather for doing weights in the garage though so if I get a "walk day" where the weather isn't that good, I now will be able to do something at home without too much drama. This is also good for weekends and such as I usually don't feel like heading out anywhere but, spending half and hour in the garage seems more appealing to me.
Whilst I was testing out the new bench my son came down to the garage to see what I was up to. When he saw me lifting the dumb bells he said something like "they don't look heavy, how can they be hurting you". Apparently I was making some faces as I was finishing off the triceps extensions (they are still hard work). When I had finished my routine I gave my son a go with just one of the dumb bells. He started off saying how easy it was but after about 3 or 4 bicep curls he couldn't do any more and even with both hands holding on to one of the weights he couldn't do more than three triceps extensions. Yes he's nine, but at least now he won't make fun of me any more :)
