Making the best of a bad situation

As my Dad would say, "I've caught the dreaded lurgy". I'm not sure where it came from, but Sunday night I had a sore throat, by lunchtime yesterday it had progressed to a sore throat and a runny nose. Over night it didn't get any better, so this morning I was feeling pretty sick and decided to stay home. I slowly got better during the day but felt exhausted by around 4pm so had a lie down and a nap.
As I still hadn't organised anything to do with getting solar panels I took the opportunity of being home to do a little research and called up three local companies. I have started the process of getting quotes with all of them so over the next week or so I should have all the information I need to be able to book one of them in.
One of the companies advised that even though the roof doesn't face the ideal direction it may be worthwhile putting the panels on flat with the roof instead of using stands as I could actually fit more panels which may give me a greater result. The reason why I'd fit more panels lying down rather than putting them on stands is because the panels themselves would cast shadows if they were on stands and limit the total usable space.
One of the companies is coming to do a full site inspections, another is getting me to send them some photos so they can prepare a quote and the third I'm actually going in to see them as it will probably be easier than getting them to come and see me as their office is pretty close to work. All of them sounded pretty disinterested when they answer the phone but they quickly perked up pretty quickly when they realised that I was genuinely interested and they could actually get a sale out of me if they were any good.
Fingers crossed that at least one of these companies actually delivers on their quote and doesn't end up stuffing us around.

If only I was an electrician and a plumber, then I could do everything.
