The Hunt Begins

Yesterday afternoon we took the kids out to visit all the display homes at the new estate closest to where we currently live. It's only about 10 minutes from where we live, so it's not really that far away, but growing up in Canberra, everything was only 15 minutes away so we're not used to travelling far to do anything at all.
I think to get what we want, we'll have to borrow more than we want to. There are some options that we can afford but after seeing what is out there for just a little more, I think that we're probably going to stretch ourselves a little.
My wife and I are both pretty much home bodies so buying a house that we intend to live in for the rest of our lives that is everything we could ever want probably isn't too much of a bad thing. The display homes are of course fully optioned and on larger than average blocks, just to make things look better than they's be for probably everyone living out there.
We are going to have to be quite careful about the house we choose as quite a few of the houses are over looked by their neighbours, so there would be no feeling of privacy at all.
The biggest problem with the new estate is that their is currently only one road that everyone has to use to get in and out. At the end of that road, you can turn left and head out further into the country side, or turn right to head towards Canberra and where everybody works.
We haven't ruled out other areas, but I do think that we'll end up out there somewhere.
