My wife and I have been doing quite a lot of talking in the last couple of days about whether we should extend our existing home, or, move to a bigger place. We haven't ruled out building a place or doing a knock down rebuild but they are less likely to happen than the other two.
I think I've convinced my wife that moving to the new estate on the outskirts of town isn't the best idea but we can still go and look at the display homes to get an ideas for the possible extension and/or renovation of our existing home.
I would really like to stay where we are and either extend or rebuild or a bit of both. The location we are in is within walking distance of the kids school, the centre of town, the river and anything that we could possibly need. The value of our land is just going to go up much faster than basically anywhere else in town as we're not in the Heritage list zone, but still really close to everywhere and our block is still larger than anything that you can buy in any of the new suburbs.
We also have a view and nothing that we've seen so far has much of a view at all, most are built so close that the only thing you'd see is the fence or the side of another house.
I think the knock down rebuild option will prove to be too expensive which then only leaves doing an extension or moving somewhere else. I don't mid moving to somewhere nearby that might need a little work but my wife doesn't want to move to somewhere that needs work, she wants a finished place which is why she likes the new estates.
I don't know if we'll ever agree on what we're going to do, the only thing we agree on at the moment is that we need to do something as the current place is too small.
