Location, location, location.

I've been making a little bit of an effort to make sure that I'm not eating too much junk and that I am doing plenty of walking at work. I'm happy that my weight gain appears to have stalled, it gives me hope for losing weight if I put some extra effort in once we've moved house.
I can't remember if I've mentioned it already and I'm not about to go trawling back through my previous posts to find out, but the new house is only about four houses from roughly 65 hectares of parks, sporting ovals and playgrounds, with bike/pedestrian paths throughout. I'm really looking forward to getting out and exploring the new neighbourhood, now I'm feeling a little deja vu so I guess I'm repeating myself, sorry.
One thing that I really want to try and get in the habit of is walking or riding up to the local shops with the kids to show them how close it is and so that they know the best way to go that is safe for them. I used to love riding my bike to the shops when I was a kid, it was footpath the whole way and only one road to cross. I remember that it started off seeming like it was such a long way away and then as I got older it was like it became closer and closer.
From what it looks like, to get to the local shops that are already open, it will be a couple of streets to cross but they should all be fairly quiet suburban streets and one slightly busier road that from memory has a medium strip which should make crossing safer. Once the whole township has been built, we'll have access to another set of local shops which would only be a few hundred meters further away, but in the opposite direction. The advantage that these shops will have will be that there will be only one small suburban road to cross. We should also be within easy walking distance of the proper town centre where they are hoping to have a major supermarket as well as smaller retailers, cafes, restaurants and hopefully a pub.
All of that means that I should be enticed to get out walking a little more and I can really start to get back on the exercise wagon.

Bomber
sorry for talking so much about moving.
