Let the Packing Begin

Yesterday after work I went out and purchased a stack of moving boxes. There is a company not far away that actually make some of their own boxes in house and their prices were really good. I've only ever moved a small amount when I moved in with my Wife (when we were dating) and then move a slightly larger amount when we moved from our rented townhouse to our current house. That was before we had kids so we have a whole heap more stuff now. I think this will be a good chance for us to clear out a lot of stuff we don't really need but have been hanging on to. I'm pretty sure my wife still has a box of personal memories in her cupboard that she never unpacked 10 years ago when we moved in.
It's tough throwing things out that once were important to you or have sentimental value, but if they stay stuck in the back of a cupboard and you never use them or look at them are they really worth hanging on to? I have some stuff that I have in the back of my cupboard, but not too much. I have my electric guitar from college and my pool cue, the last time I would have actually played the guitar would be nearly 20 years ago and the pool cue somewhere around 10 years ago. I can probably sell both of them and now that I'm writing this I think I'll try and do just that. I have some old mobile DJ gear and a guitar amp in the garage too. Even if I don't get much cash for them, at least they will be getting used and hopefully they will make someone happy.
There are a few things that I wouldn't get rid of, I have a pewter cup that my late Aunt gave me for my 21st birthday that is engraved. It's in a nice wooden box and it just sits at the back of the wardrobe, maybe at the new place I can put a couple of these nicer things that I want to keep on display. I'm not sure what my wife would think of that as she probably thinks it's ugly. I also have my Grandpa's medals that I'd like to get framed or something to put on display somewhere in the house.

If I don't post, I may have packed the PC.
