Late last week, my wife was on Facebook and noticed that someone in the community had posted about a new section of road being open in the development. It was after dinner and the kids were already in their pyjamas, but we jumped in the car and headed up to see what we could see as we were pretty sure that we could now actually get a lot closer to our new block.
As it turned out, we were able to stand at the end of our new driveway. The view is going to be great from the new block and the open space directly across the road is bigger and flatter that I thought it was going to be so it will be great to be able to kick the footy or throw a ball. Basically it has the potential to become an extension to our yard space for the kids as they could go and play there whenever they liked and we'd be able to see them out the windows of our house.
The photo above is from a couple of days later as it was getting dark when visited it the first time. As you can see it was pretty wet and cloudy when the photo was taken, so it doesn't really do justice to the view of the ranges that we will have, or the lights we'll see at night. I'll wait until we have some nice weather and I'll go and take some nicer photos.
Whilst we were at the block the first time, we actually met the people who have bought the block diagonally behind us. They were a nice couple around the same age as my wife and I, as we talked more, I wondered why the bloke looked so familiar and eventually we realised that our sons were the same age and in fact played in the same footy team last season! We both felt a little embarrassed that we didn't figure that out sooner considering we both would have been at a lot of the games our kids had.
It will still be several months before our land actually registers and we'll be able to get further onto our block. At the moment there is a big fence blocking access to our site as our neighbourhood is still being worked on by the developer. But this is still exciting and we are happy that we jumped onto this block as fast as we did as it is in a fantastic location and is by far one of the best blocks in the area.

Who knew that a small piece of dirt could be so exciting.
