| New camera mount |
I spent some time last night going through the footage that I captured and put together another little test video. I think I managed to record in LOG mode which should have given me more colour information but not as much colour will show in the footage straight out of the camera. LOG mode is meant for when you are going to do your own colour correction in post production, which is exactly what I did using Davinci Resolve. I also added some text and some music. The music isn't from Epidemic Sound as I don't see the point in starting my subscription just yet, I just used the free YouTube music that is OK but no where near as good as the Epidemic Sound stuff.
First I produced a 360° video and put all the text and everything in that. I tried to put everything in at a size and location that it would work in both the 360° video as well as the traditional video 16:9 video. I then rendered the 360° video and reimported it to Insta360 Studio and made the Free Capture 16:9 video out of it. I'm still not 100% sure that this is the way to go, it's certainly the easiest but I don't want the quality to suffer because of it.
The $2 mic only showed up today and I didn't think to try the phone earbuds microphone idea that I had the other day. I was just too keen to get out and try the new camera mount. I was going to try some drive-by shots but I forgot to do them too.
Below there are two videos, they are exactly the same footage and music, one is in 360° format and the other in standard 16:9, this is how I plan to release my videos for the motocamping channel. The standard 16:9 video will be on YouTube for everyone to watch and the 360° video will only be available to my patrons on Patreon.
