Well it's certainly been a while hasn't it. A few things have changed since I last wrote a post on this blog and the world is certainly a different place too.
Around the time that I last posted the Bush-fires were just breaking out in Australia, they turned out to be a disaster on a scale that we hadn't seen before. According to Wikipedia 18.6 million hectares was burnt (46
million acres). When you compare that to the devastating bush-fires currently burning in America it does show just how sparse Australia is. The American fires are currently between 7 and 8 million acres.
Now COVID-19 has come along and changed the way the whole world works. We had the kids doing home schooling for a few weeks. My wife changed to working at home in the morning for an hour and then going to the office in the afternoon and I was working from 7am to Midday and coming home to look after the kids and doing a couple of hours work from home. It was certainly a different time in our lives.
Thankfully, possibly due to the sparseness of Australia and going into winter, isolation wasn't th a t har d and was mostly a huge success story around Australia. Where we live there hasn't been a confirmed case for several months. Things are mostly back to normal around our neck of the woods. Thankfully, COVID-19 hasn't affect our ability to earn an income, if anything my wife has gotten busier at work. That has resulted in one of the biggest changes this year, my wife has gone to full time work.
Whilst it may not seem like much, my wife going full time has meant a few changes have had to happen. My wife still drops the kids at school on the way to her work but the kids now catch the bus home. To make sure that someone is home when the kids get home I've continued to start work at 7am and finish at 3pm. I am usually home about 10 minutes before the kids are and if it is raining or the kids have sport, then I pick them up from the bus stop. Thankfully because of the distance that we live from the school, the kids are eligible for free school buses. BUT because two kids don't fit on a motorcycle I've had to buy a car AND because there was no room for a car in the garage, I've sold the motorcycle. It was hard and I do miss having the bike, but right now the smartest thing to do was to sell it and at a later date I can always get another one.
Bomber.
I'm still overweight, I'm still unhappy at work, I've done no training in programming and I don't want to. We went looking at display houses today, I think I want to build a new house.....
